Proxy List

A proxy list is a list of proxy sites that can be used for surfing the internet anonymously.  And not only can you stay anonymous by using a proxy from a proxy list, you can also use a proxy from the proxy list to sneak around your corporate firewall or school web filter.  All you need to do is find a good proxy list, then choose a proxy from that list from your blocked location.  When you get to the proxy, then just enter the address of the webste you are trying to access, and that is blocked from school.  Next you will be brought to the website that has been blocked.

How does it work? Well, your school has blocked a certain website from you to access.  Whenever you try to access that site, the firewall rule returns a blank page, instead of the page you want to get to.  By using a proxy, you are fooling the firewall.  The firewall may be blocking facebook, but is not blocking a proxy like proxytofriendster.com.  So when you go to proxytofriendster.com, the firewall lets you access it.  So the proxy is not blocked, and the firewall isn’t concerned.  Now when you put in the blocked site into the proxy, you are returned with the contents of your filtered site.  Your firewall still thinks you are visiting proxytofriendster (not on the blocked list).  Proxy sites often go down though, so be sure to bookmark your favorite proxy list.

Information collected about you

Are you aware of all of the information collected by web pages on the internet.  Google for one, tracks almost any website you go to.  They do this either from the ads placed on the website, or by analytical software that is installed on the site. And the most popular ads are googles, and the most popular analytical tracking software also happens to be owned by google.

Every time you visit a website with google ads or analytics on it, your information is being stored, and tracked.  This information is more than just your IP address of the computer you are using, or the operating system and browser.  Information about your demographic is also put into play.  You may not see the ads someone else is seeing based on your demographic.

If you don’t want all of this information to be collected about you, and tracked, then you may want to use a proxy to hide your personal details.  A proxy allows you to surf the internet, and access all the sites you normally do, but without the risk of giving up your privacy.  You can find many free proxies at ProxyInter.net.
